China Nuclear Industry 23 Construction Signed Contract on Namibia Husab Project


On December 25, the consortium of China Nuclear Industry 23 Construction( hereinafter referred to CNI23) and China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) formally signed section contract of P2195-CC003 on Namibia Husab Project with CGN Uranium Industry Skow Co. Ltd at Daya Bay,Shenzhen. He Zuyuan, Deputy General Manager of CGN Uranium Resources Co.,Ltd; Zheng Keping, CEO of CGN Uranium Industry Skow Co. Ltd; Shu Guogang, General Manager of CNPEC; Zhang Xianhao, Deputy Chief Engineer and Project Management Director of CNEC; Han Naishan, General Manager and Deputy Party Secretart of CNI23 and relevant leaders from CGN Design Co. Ltd. attended the signing ceremony.

Zhan Xianhao represented CNEC delivered a speech at the ceremony. He pointed that Namibia Husab is the first overseas project of the cooperation between CNI23 and CGPEC and has an important significance and far-reaching influence on further implementing the “Going Out”strategy and overall development of two companies. He hoped that both sides can take the signing as an opportunity to enhance mutual trust, give full play to their respective advantages and step forward to a deeper, broader and more comprehensive cooperation field and finally achieve win-win situation. Han Naishan said during the speech that CNI23 will closely cooperated with CGPEC and based on the resource conditions of Nambia and the surrounding conntries to ensure the project to be completed on schedule.

Husab uranium mine,located in the Namib desert in the Midwest of Numbia, is one of the third largest uranium mine around the world and is expected to rank the second after put into production in the end of 2015. About 2.5 billion USD will be invested in this project during construction period. It is not only the cooperation project with the largest scale between China and Namibia, but also one of China’s biggest investments in Africa.
